AquaVIP was a 3.5 year Interreg South Baltic project (Jan 2020 – June 2023) carried out by  Klaipeda Science and Technology Park (LT, Lead partner), University of Rostock (DE), University of Gdańsk (PL), and Klaipeda University (LT) with  an objective to boost aquaculture labour market within the South Baltic area by fostering human resources capacity through cross-border training and networking.

AquaVIP experimental results

AquaVIP experiments carried out in partners’ facilities were foreseen as core activities for AquaYouth, AquaProfi and AquaTION service offer of the project and were carried in the area of recirculating aquaculture systems, shrimps cultivation, artificial feed chains, aquaponics, and geothermal technology:

Establishment of artificial feed chains for the culture of sensitive fish larvae

Aquaponic experiment with Litopenaeus vannamei and algae

Growth and nutritional value of Litopenaeus vannamei from the small-scale laboratory culture / Nutritional value of native and non-native shrimps from the Baltic Sea

Whiteleg shrimp RAS technology optimization

Application of brackish salinity in freshwater fish RAS cultivation

AquaYouth  & AquaProfi

AquaYouth career development offer (AquaYouth) and Aquaculture Professionals success support (AquaProfi) – AquaVIP services for students of aquaculture micro, SMEs and self-employed entrepreneurs, micro-enterprises, SMEs representatives, fish farmers, crustacean farmers, aquaponics entrepreneurs, as well as farmers associations, NGOs, and authorities interested in improving their skills and sustainable aquaculture development, including summer schools, study visits, students panels, and networking initiatives.
