We are very happy to announce that an integrated agri-aquaculture farm concept, where nutritious and tasty African catfish and tilapia are produced on-land and in a circular way, was presented to the young generation!
On October 10th a group of high school students from CELF – Centre for Vocational Education Lolland Falster together with their teachers made a study visit to Gårdsfisk, near the town of Tollarp, south of Sweden, where freshwater fish are raised in the RAS system on a commercial scale.
Visit to the innovative facility focusing on the sustainable production of African catfish and tilapia made a great impression on the students. They were presented the company’s concept of integrated farming and aquaculture and had an opportunity of an exciting production facility tour together with discussions and networking with AquaLoop partners from Sweden and Denmark: Gårdsfisk, Gulborsund Municipality, and VSTK.
Transfer of the concept to the Danish market is part of the SupportLoop activities of the AquaLoop project. And a professional demonstration plant housed at CELF is scheduled to be fully operational as part of other European projects by early 2025, and we are very excited to see it coming.
It is worth mentioning that a group of stakeholders including AquaLoop partners, associated partners and stakeholders from all around the South Baltic region already in August 2024 had a chance to visit the facility and a more detailed report on the production concept and process can be found here.
#Gårdsfisk thank you for hosting #CELF and inspiring others!
