AQUALOOP International Conference

We are pleased to invite you to the final event of our INTERREG South Baltic project, AquaLoop- Aquaculture expert floor for circular economy practiceStrengthening Circular Economy and Valorisationof side streams in RAS AquacultureAQUALOOP International Conference, 25 February 2026 (9:30 – 17:00), Klimahaus Bremerhaven, Germany, which will showcase the outputs of the topics addressed by our seven project partners: valorisation of side-streams, RAS farm (circularity) concepts and knowledge transfer, and training and capacity building for South Baltic RAS. The event will highlight solutions and results from our three pilot initiatives on Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) and aquaculture side streams, as well as project-based training activities and recommendations. Participants will have the opportunity to network with potential partners, decision-makers, and industry stakeholders, and to gain visibility in an international forum dedicated to circular solutions and sustainable aquaculture.

Framework program and Conference agenda

The framework agenda includes the following sessions:

 3. Training and capacity building in the circular economy

Fee: The event is free of charge but requires registration.

Conference venue: The conference will take place at KlimahausBremerhaven.

Getting there: By plane – Bremen airport; By train/long distance bus – connections through Bremen; Travel from Bremen to Bremerhaven – 45m by train, every 60min

Study visits: Two study visits are scheduled for 26 January 2026, starting at 10:00 (at the facility) and lasting approximately 60–90 minutes. The study visit will be organized at the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI), Center of Aquaculture Research, and Technology Transfer Center (ttz) facilities. 20 spots are available for each study visit and the participation if free of charge. Registration is required. (No cost.)

Study visit 1 – Centre of Aquaculture Research AWI, Bremerhaven

The centre provides a modern infrastructure with closed recirculation aquaculture systems (RAS) supporting freshwater, brackish, and marine organisms, including fish, crustaceans, algae, and other species The facilities are highly customizable and supported by greenhouses, culture rooms, and laboratories to meet diverse research requirements. Study visit 2 – ttz – Technology Transfer Center, Bremerhaven

The Center is an innovative provider of research services and operates in the field of application-oriented research and development, with an international team working in the areas of food, environment and health. The study visit will focus on ttz facilities, with particular emphasis on fish feed development, formulation, and manufacturing. (Address: Am Lunedeich 12, 27572 Bremerhaven, the meeting point will be announced at the conference.)
