AquaLoop study visit to UAB Kintai – ponds, RAS and more

AquaLoop partners made a visit earlier this week to UAB Kintai in Lithuania, located in a beautiful surrounding of the Nemunas Delta Regional Park large traditional pond aquaculture farm with new RAS facility for African catfish production and much more.

UAB Kintai is a business inspired by a unique location, located in the Nemunas Delta Regional Park, on the banks of the Minija River. The main activities of the company are aquaculture, fishing, fish processing, and tourism services in the region.

The aquaculture farm has been operating since 1993. On the area of 600 ha, in ponds supplied with very clean water from Minija river, various fish species are bred and cultured here: carp, white carp, spotted broadhead, trout, sturgeon, catfish, pike, crucian carp, perch, and tench with success. The company has also started African catfish production in recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) and is expending this branch of production.

Since 2015 a modern fish processing facility began its operation, where the primary processing, salting and smoking of fish both from the farm, as well as marine fish are carried out. Both fresh and smoked fish produced by UAB Kintai can be purchased in chain retailers throughout Lithuania.

Furthermore, the company offers a holiday complex, providing various options for recreation: food and accommodation, boat rental, organization of catering and conferences, bird watching, fishing options, and boat private charter.

It was a great pleasure to participate in the tour! #UAB KINTAI thank you for hosting AquaLoop and showing inspirations for aquaculture business development
