4th onsite AquaLoop partner meeting in Gdynia, POLAND

On April 8th, 2025, partners from all seven institutions of the AquaLoop project consortium, representative of the Advisory Board and the financial management agancy gathered in Gdynia for the fourth onsite project partner meeting.

The meeting centered on reviewing the administrative and financial progress, as well as progress and outcomes of project activities within TrainingLoop and SupportLoop work packages. These included progress on the AquaLoop cross-border student exchange program, educational activities for schoolchildren, stakeholder workshops, study visits, and feasibility assessments.

Participants received updates on ongoing research and demonstration efforts under project pilots: TARASTesting Algae Applications in Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) to enhance the circularity potential of aquaculture in the South Baltic region, NEMATICImproving Nutrient Efficiency in Commercial Aquaculture through expanded application of circular economy principles and FISHVISADeveloping an Integrated Fish-Shrimp-Vegetable Aquaponics System to demonstrate circular economy solutions within RAS operations. They also had the opportunity to visit the small-scale shrimp RAS facility located at the Faculty of Oceanography and Geography, University of Gdańsk. This facility is used for research on shrimp farming and algae cultivation in RAS, and also serves as a demonstration site for students and stakeholders under the TARAS pilot.

The meeting also addressed project management, and communication matters. Discussions concluded with plans for continued collaboration in the coming months, with a focus on pilot development, training programs, support services, with the focus on deliverables, and outreach.

This productive meeting of partners, Advisory Board and financial management representatives marked another important step forward for the AquaLoop project.
