The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/aqualoop.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/AquaLoopl_NEMATIC_Pilot-protocol_final-version.pdf\">NEMATIC pilot &#8211; Increasing the nutrient efficiency of commercial aquaculture through increased application of circular economy concepts<\/a><\/strong> explores how fish processing by-products can be transformed from underused waste streams into valuable resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The pilot focuses on several important farmed fish species in the South Baltic Region, including African catfish, rainbow trout and pikeperch. It investigates how parts of the fish that are currently discarded or only minimally used could be recovered and valorised for new applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By exploring new ways to use these side streams, NEMATIC aims to <strong>reduce waste, improve resource efficiency and create additional value for the aquaculture sector<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ultimately, the pilot contributes to a more <strong>sustainable and circular aquaculture sector in the South Baltic Region<\/strong>, supporting the transition towards a circular bioeconomy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>PROTOCOL \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/aqualoop.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/AquaLoopl_NEMATIC_Pilot-protocol_final-version.pdf\">NEMATIC pilot &#8211; Increasing the nutrient efficiency of commercial aquaculture through increased application of circular economy concepts<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Aquaculture is an important and growing part of the food system, but making better use of resources and reducing waste remain key challenges.
