This time the CEO of the farm welcomed the AquaLoop project partners, offering a unique opportunity to explore the inner workings of a modern, sustainable aquaculture operation.

During the visit, participants gained firsthand insights into the Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) operations on two locations operated by K2 Fish Farm, located near Lębork, in the Pomeranian region of northern Poland, just about an hour’s drive from Gdynia.

The farm specializes in the production of rainbow trout, utilizing high-quality water drawn from both the Łeba-Struga Kisewska river basin and deep groundwater wells. These pristine water sources help ensure optimal conditions for healthy fish growth. At the heart of the farm’s operations is a closed-loop RAS system, which recycles and purifies water through a series of advanced mechanical and biological filtration processes. This system significantly reduces water usage while maintaining the high water quality needed for fish welfare, growth, and disease prevention. The sustainability and efficiency of this method make K2 a model for modern aquaculture practices.

The production at K2 Fish Farm spans the entire fish lifecycle—from eggs to market-size fish, spread across its two fully integrated facilities. Their market reach extends beyond the local region, serving national and international customers. Looking ahead, K2 Fish Farm plans to further expand its operations, with developments including the launch of its own full-scale fish processing facility.

We are truly grateful to K2 Fish Farm for their continued collaboration, openness, and commitment to sharing knowledge.

On April 9th, 2025, we once again had the pleasure of experiencing the warm hospitality of K2 Fish Farm, a valued partner already engaged in the AquaLoop cross-border student exchange program.
